Camping in Great Basin National Park

In early October, while it was still ridiculously hot in the desert, we took the kids camping in the Great Basin National Park. We left later than we had hoped and got there around midnight. Because it was so dark, we set up the little, easy three man tent instead of our more difficult, two room monstrosity, and snuggled tight. The next morning we woke up to this picturesque campsite. Our sleeping arrangements were funny b/c it was cold at night (about 40s). We forgot that we only had two camping pads to protect our bodies from the cold ground, so we let Matthew sleep on Abby's sleeping bag as padding, and Abby slept inside my sleeping bag. John and I did not get much sleep at night b/c we were constantly waking up and pushing little ppl back into their respective bag. They kept creeping out for some reason. :)

I taught the kids Winnie-the-Pooh's favorite game - Pooh Sticks! We threw the sticks on one side of a bridge and then watched them float down the creek under the other side of the bridge. Matthew and Abby couldn't see the sticks well, so we changed the game to Pooh Leaves. They just loved to collect leaves and throw them in the creek.

Camping with two movable kiddos was time consuming (last time Abby was still a baby), but even with the lack of sleep and constant busyness, I felt sooo relaxed on that drive home. Something about sleeping outside is just sooo relaxing.
