Crosscountry #3 - Crater Lake

A lot of people have been asking me how we travel with the dogs and Matthew. This is how. :) Usually the dogs are in the truck with John, and Matthew is in the car with me. Today we consolidated for the drive to Crater Lake. Matthew and Chewie are best buds.

The landscape around Crater Lake.

This is where Andy sits when we are all in the car together. I didn't realize how silly my face looks, but oh well.

This is the gorgeous Crater Lake. About 7,000 years ago this volcano erupted and then collapsed in on itself. After the collapse, the small island in the center was created by a mini - volcano. The small eruptions actually sealed the top of this crater. Eventually, it filled with rainwater and snowmelt. The little island is called Wizard Island. Matthew insists there is a lion living on it. This is the view from the top of the hill we climbed!! John carried Matthew up most of this.

We climbed to the top of this little hill where rangers used to sit and watch for fires in the summer. It was pretty high. I'm actually pretty impressed that I made it up the hill in my 3rd trimester.
This is the view from the road as we drove through Oregon.
More Crater lake pictures!
