Death Valley

Since Death Valley was warmer than Las Vegas (60 degrees), we thought Abby would do well. The swelling from the surgery and congestion were not a good combination, so we hoped to prevent her from developing more. Death Valley was really interesting! At our picnic, we were visited by a friendly desert squirrel.

Abby chasing the wildlife

Beep beep!

The first place we went were the dunes in Death Valley.

John carried Abby while she napped most of the way.

Grandma looking good.

It really was hard to go up the big dunes in sand. Matthew enjoyed falling.

Look how dry the ground is! This is the "rainy" season too!

Flowers are beginning to bloom.

Next we went to the salt flats. No, he is not eating snow. It's salt. blech.

oops, we are back to the dunes!

Matthew got his Junior Ranger badge. :) He is now collecting them at National Parks.

Back to the Salt Flats.

This is a little brackish pond.
